Victory Industries 1/18th scale Austin Somerset. Excellent Plus-Near Mint.
The Austin Somerset was the third road car model made following the Morris Minor 1000 and Vauxhall Velox in 1953. Made, from their small factory in Guildford, in the south of England. These models were produced in plastic using the latest commercially produced injection moulding machines. Battery operated they were produced with attractive metal trim such as bumpers, door handles radiator grill, hub caps and finishing touches. This model is the earlier of two versions showing the number plate ‘AUS 40’. The second release had a new number plate VV1972.
Beige body with red tinplate interior and silver wheels. It has steerable front wheels, includes the battery cover to underside and retains all metal fittings and number plates ‘VAU 64’ and the ‘flying A badge’.
Condition. Excellent Plus-Near Mint.
One of the best I have seen. All parts still intact The front hub caps show minimal rusting, there is also a little defacing on the rear number plate, but that’s about it.
Box. Excellent Plus-Near Mint.
Complete with no tears though one corner of the box top has had a careful glue repair it retains a strong structure. Minimal edge wear. A very nice box. Model is wrapped in old tissue, possibly original. No graffiti.
An excellent opportunity for a very nice example of these hard to find models.
